 I Make America Campaign Messages

URGENT NEED FOR SAFER ROADS

  • There’s an URGENT NEED to rebuild and modernize America’s infrastructure.
    • A strong majority of Americans believe this.
  • Repairing unsafe roads and bridges, and building a surface transportation framework, creates jobs and makes America more competitive. This is a priority that cannot wait.
  • Infrastructure investment is a proven economic engine with staying power. It creates lasting jobs and economic benefits.
  • Safer roads and bridges, adequate electric power grids to provide uninterrupted utility service and modern sewer and drainage systems that don’t break down are essential to a healthy, growing economy.

BIPARTISAN LEADERSHIP

  • Republican, independent, and Democratic voters nationwide overwhelmingly agree (83%) that modernizing and rebuilding infrastructure is both a SAFETY and a JOBS issue. This issue offers a great opportunity for bipartisan LEADERSHIP.
  • Infrastructure investment is exactly that – an investment in our nation’s future that will yield a high return.
  • We need to think “outside the box” with innovative, new funding approaches to make this critical investment without increasing the national deficit. For example:
    • An infrastructure bank with private investment that’s tied to user fees.
    • Dedicating existing revenues sources.
    • Our polling shows that 60% of voters would even support a one-cent national sales tax for infrastructure that would expire in 5 years.
  • Voters believe there is an URGENT NEED to rebuild our infrastructure. What they want is LEADERSHIP and ACTION to get it done.

COMPETITIVENESS

  • It is critically important that equipment manufacturers are able to prosper and grow right here in the United States.
  • National policies to keep manufacturing jobs in this country are not working – they are failing to create the certainty that manufacturers need to invest and hire.
  • If foreign countries can make investments to build up their infrastructure to compete with the United States, we need to make investments to build up our infrastructure to COMPETE with them.

Nothing in Washington, D.C. gets done without making a lot of noise. So please add your name in support of I Make America.
